    Vettel predicts tight battle

    by Dave Maher , 22 April 2012

After taking victory in Bahrain, a delighted Sebastian Vettel revealed his belief that the fight for glory in 2012 will continue to be an extremely tight one.

Red Bull's Vettel, who qualified in pole position, beat Lotus racer Kimi Raikkonen to victory in the desert.

Meanwhile, McLaren suffered a dreadful day, as pit-stop problems saw Lewis Hamilton finish in eighth place, with Jenson Button failing to score any points. Vettel, though, believes that McLaren will remain a constant threat.

“This is a very tight season, with cars very close to each other and only small things making huge differences,” Vettel said. “We started the season saying McLaren is the fastest. We have seen that that can be quite different on Sundays, but I still think they have one of the strongest packages.”

The world champion was thrilled after taking his first win of the season.

“I’m very happy we have made it here because we were not quite sure how competitive we would be," he enthused. "For now, I’m just happy – I don’t really care what happens in the next race ... not for now, at least.”
